NOW ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS
Q: What equipment will you bring for in-home visits?
A: I will bring the following equipment to our sessions:
Massage table
Linens
Resistance bands
Cushioned yoga mat
Kettle bells
Breathing trainers
Athletic tape for use as needed
Q: Do you take insurance?
A: No; in order to provide the highest quality care and maximize our treatment time, Foundations is a private pay practice. I can accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, as well as Visa Debit & Debit Mastercard at time of service with our secure billing portal using Jane Payments. Treatment sessions are FSA/HSA eligible.
Q: How soon after my c-section can I schedule?
A: The answer to this depends on your goals and when you feel ready. If you are looking for guidance on how to modify activities post-op, care for your incision, and address any musculoskeletal pain/discomfort, we can schedule as soon as you feel ready after birth. If you feel comfortable with how you are doing things post-op but want guidance on how to improve scar mobility, improve coordination in your abdominal muscles, return to exercise, etc then I would recommend waiting until 6-8 weeks when the incision is fully healed. Please fill out the contact form or give me a call at 715-204-7782 if you want more info on this!
Q: How do I schedule a visit?
A: Click the "Request a Visit" page in the navigation bar at the top of this page, fill out the contact form, and I will reach out to you within 48 hours! You can also click the "Request a Visit" button underneath the service you are interested in on the "Services" page. Thank you for your interest, I can't wait to chat with you!
Q: How do I know if I need pelvic floor PT?
A: I'm a firm believer that everyone should at least be evaluated by a pelvic floor PT after birthing a baby. Pregnancy has profound effects on the muscles, joints, and even organs of our body as we make space for the growing baby. Common symptoms in pregnancy and postpartum that can be improved with physical therapy include pubic symphysis pain, SI joint pain, low back pain, urinary leakage, pelvic organ prolapse, and more. If you are pregnant, a physical therapist is a phenomenal addition to your prenatal team to provide evidence-based guidance on pregnancy safe exercise and individualized modifications for your specific fitness level.
Q: What does a pelvic floor PT session look like?
A: I'll start by taking a history, I've already gotten to know your medical background and symptoms from your intake forms but I like to start our treatment by learning more about YOU; your birth, your lifestyle, your goals. I'll run my musculoskeletal assessment, which includes a few very gentle exercises (depending on how recently you gave birth) and hands-on assessment of how your muscles/joints are recovering. If you are >6 weeks postpartum, have been cleared by your midwife/OB, AND want to have one, we can do an internal exam which is 1 gloved finger inserted into the vaginal canal to assess presence/grade of pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic floor muscle strength, and scar tissue/muscle dysfunction that may need treatment. We'll wrap things up by giving you a few things to work on until our next visit to help your body feel better and start building up your foundation again.
I love to give you plenty of time throughout to ask any questions you have about recovery, movement, and exercise. I'm a mom myself and I had absolute angels on my postpartum care team that never rushed me when I needed to nurse or soothe my baby mid-appointment. I love to pay this forward to the mamas I treat, so please know I love to hold space for you and you never need to worry about a quick baby break in our sessions!
Q: Do I need a referral from my doctor for pelvic floor physical therapy?
A: No! Wisconsin is a direct access state (with a few provisions) meaning you can see a physical therapist without a referral. However, with your permission, I will send our evaluation and progress updates to your birth provider or PCP. If after our evaluation, I have concerns and believe you would benefit from further follow up with your physician or another clinician I will help you coordinate that care and relay my findings.
Q: How many visits will I need?
A: You are likely seeking therapy because you want your symptoms GONE. Visits 1x per week for 6-8 weeks have been shown to be most effective to maintain improvement from session to session so we can continue to make progress toward your goals. I understand life happens, especially for moms, that's why I offer virtual visits to make sure your plan of care isn't interrupted if an in-person visit doesn't work with your schedule on a particular week.

Q: What do I need to wear to my session?
A: Whatever you feel most comfortable in! I care about how your body is moving as a whole so we will likely be doing a few exercises (or more than a few) depending on where you are at in your recovery. It can be helpful to visualize your abdominal muscles/rib cage to assess core function so some clients choose to wear a sports bra or shirt they can easily tuck out of the way, but our session will match your comfort level.
